French death metal and thrash metal band Yyrkoon was formed in 1995 and it comprises Stéphane Souteyrand (guitar, vocals) and Laurent Harrouart (drums). Originally the group was created by Stéphane Souteyrand (guitar & keyboards), Laurent Harrouart (drums), Paul Banas (vocals & guitar), and Sébastien Caron (bass guitar). In 1996, they released their debut demo, Oath, Obscure, Occult…, and sent it to various French record labels and they quickly signed to Velvet Music International. After this deal, they started recording their debut album, but there was a conflict between the members. As a result, Paul Banas (vocals & guitar), and Sébastien Caron (bass guitar) left the band. The band achieved mainstream success in 2002 with its breakthrough album, Dying Sun, which contained several singles such as "Idols Are Burning", "Crystal Light", "Flight of the Titan", "The Clans" and "Thrash-em All".
