Xandria is a German sympho-metal band formed in Bielefeld, Germany in 1997. The band was founded by Marco Heubaum. The current band members are Kerstin Bischof (vocals), Marco Heubaum (vocals, guitar, keyboards), Philip Restemeier (guitar), Nils Middelhauve (bass) and Gerit Lamm (drums). Despite the predominance of the symphonic elements, it’s difficult to classify the band’s sound as it also incorporates metal, rock and electronica elements. The band began releasing demos and achieved popularity in the internet. This inspired then to release their debut long play titled “Kill the Sun”. However, the album was mainly popular in the underground, as it reached only number 98 on the German albums chart. The next album “Ravenheart” was more popular peaking at number 36.
