Oscar Fingal O'Flahertie Wills Wilde, better known as Oscar Wilde was an Irish poet, playwright, journalist and short story writer. He was born on October 16, 1854 in Dublin, Ireland and died on November 30, 1900 in Paris, France. He is one of the most famous playwrights of the late Victorian era and a great celebrity of that time. He was a “London dandy” who was imprisoned for homosexualism for two years. After that, he moved to France where he lived in poverty under another name till his death. He is known best of all for his plays full of aphorisms and paradoxes. Some of his best known plays are The Importance of Being Earnest, A Woman of No Importance, Lady Windermere’s Fan, An Ideal Husband and many others.
