The Walkmen is an American indie rock band from New York City and Philadelphia formed in 2000. The current band members are Hamilton Leithauser (vocals, guitar), Paul Maroon (guitar, piano), Walter Martin (organ and bass), Peter Bauer (bass and organ) and Matt Barrick (drums). The band was by former members of other two bands which had broken up – The Recoys and Jonathan Fire*Eater. The debut album Everyone Who Pretended to Like Me Is Gone was released in 2002. The album was critically acclaimed and showed a new approach to the atmospheric music. Its sound was labeled as unique and the album was compared to the early works of U2 and The Cure. The band has released four more albums since then. The last album You & Me came out in 2008 and peaked at number 71 on the Billboard 200.
