Vicente Fernández Gómez was born on February 17, 1940 in Mexico. He’s a superstar in Latin World and he is considered as “Idol of Mexico” and “the King”. He started his career by singing on the street and now he has sonl over the 50 million copies all over the world. He sings in the style called Ranchero, i.e. Mexican music of ranchos, revolutions and caballeros. His breakthrough happened in 1966, when the famous traditional Mexican singer Javier Solis died, someone had to replace him and the record company called for Fernandez. During his career he got five times Univision's Latin Music Award for Mexican Regional Male Artist of the Year and in 2002 he was recognized by Latin Recording Academy as Person of the Year.
