Vanessa Lynn Williams was born on March 18, 1963 in Tarrytown, New York, the United States in the family of music teachers. She made a history in 1983 when she became the first African American winning the title of Miss America. After a scandal when she had to refuse from the title she began a career of entertainer and now she is also a singer, songwriter and actress. Her best-selling album The Comfort Zone was released in 1991. The album was certified 3 x Platinum and reached number one on the U.S. R&B chart and number 17 on the Billboard 200. The album is the only one in her career which charted in the UK. The album spawned her the only one top single Save the Best for Last which reached number one of the Billboard Hot 100.
