Vampire Weekend is an American indie rock band formed in New York City in 2006. The band members are Ezra Koenig – lead vocals, guitar, Rostam Batmanglij - keyboards, guitar, backing vocals, Chris Tomson – drums, percussion, and Chris Baio – bass guitar, backing vocals. According to the band, they are influenced by African popular music and Western classical music. The band has released two albums so far. The debut self-titled album was released in 2008 through XL Records. The album reached number 17 on the Billboard 200 and charted in the UK, peaking at number 1 on the UK Indie chart. The album was certified Gold in the UK. The second album Contra was released in 2010. The album was praised by the critics and welcomed by the fans thus it reached number 1 on the Billboard 200.
