American heavy metal band Type O Negative was formed in Brooklyn, New York, the United States in 1990. The current band’s line-up consists of Peter Steele (lead vocals, bass guitar), Josh Silver (Keyboards and synth effects, programming, backing vocals), Kenny Hickey (Lead and rhythm guitars, backing vocals) and of Johnny Kelly (drums, percussion). The main band’s feature is their slow, gloom and sad music which has very depressive lyrics with black humor. Their strange sense of humor can be seen not only in their songs. For example, the official site of the band announced about the death of Peter Steele (birth name Peter Ratajczyk). It appeared to be a joke. Though there is no much interest from the radio stations and music TV channels in the band’s works, they have a strong following and most part of the band’s albums charted in America and in Europe.
