American alternative rock, post-punk and indie rock band The Hold Steady from Brooklyn, was formed in 2004. They comprise Craig Finn (vocals, guitar), Tad Kubler (lead guitar), Franz Nicolay (keyboards, vocals, harmonica, accordion), Galen Polivka (bass) and Bobby Drake (drums). They rose to fame in 2004 with their debut album, Almost Killed Me, which received good reviews from music critics. It also produced the singles, "Barfruit Blues", "Most People Are DJs", "Certain Songs" and "Knuckles". In 2008, they released their fourth and latest album, Stay Positive, which debuted at number 15 on the UK Album Chart and reached number one on the UK Indie Chart. This album also was a huge success in the UK. It yielded the band's most popular singles, "One for the Cutters", "Navy Sheets", "Lord, I'm Discouraged", "Yeah Sapphire", "Both Crosses" and "Stay Positive".
