Tarkan, birth name Tarkan Tevetoğlu is a Turkish pop artist born on October 17, 1972 in Alzey, Germany but raised in Turkey. Tarkan is considered the most popular and best known Turkish pop singer with international recognition and smashing popularity outside his home country. He rose to fame in Turkey in 1992 releasing his debut album Yine Sensiz (Without You Again). His popularity was growing up through the years and he quickly gained it abroad as well. His 2003 album Dudu (Woman) sold 1 million copies in Russia having become the best selling foreign artist there in 2003. This allowed Tarkan to embark on a world tour visiting such countries like Austria, Germany, France, the United States, Russia, Ukraine, Finland, Azerbaijan and others.
