Biography: Sportfreunde Stiller is a German rock band from Germering, Bavaria. It was formed in 1996 by Peter "Balboa" Brugger, Florian "Rakete" Weber, and Rüdiger "Rüde" Linhof (bass). The group began their career at underground scene and was known in limited circles. Their albums Macht doch was Ihr wollt, ich geh jetzt and Thonträger didn't get any publicity. The breakthrough single for the group was “Wellenreiten ‘54” released in 1999. It was the beginning of their success in Germany. In 2006 they wrote and issued a song "'54, '74, '90, 2006", a fan hymn for the German National Team. It became hit number one immediately and they proved to be one of the leading German rock bands.
