British trip hop, downtempo and electronica music band Sneaker Pimps from Hartlepool, was active from 1994 to 2003. The band comprised Ian Pickering (lyricist), Chris Tate, Chris Corner (guitar, synthesiser, vocals), Liam Howe (synthesiser), Joe Wilson (bass), David Westlake (drums and sampling) and Kelli Dayton (vocalist). They rose to fame in 1996 with their debut album, Becoming X, which reached number 27 in the UK and number one on the U.S. Heatseekers chart. It also yielded several singles such as "Low Place Like Home", "Tesko Suicide", "6 Underground", "Becoming X" and "Spin Spin Sugar".
