Sidney Sheldon, birth name Sidney Schechtel was born on February 11, 1917 in Chicago, Illinois, the United States and died on January 30, 2007 in Rancho Migare, California, the United States. Sheldon comes from Russian Jewish family. He earned his first money when he was 10 selling his poem. After the school graduation he attended the Northwestern University. At the end of the 1930s he moved to Hollywood, after the war he moved to New York and earned his first fame as a musical writer for Broadway stage. He wrote the following musicals – Redhead, Roman Candle, The Merry Widow, Alice in Arms and Gomes (London). However, the biggest popularity earned his novels. He started writing them in 1969. The debut novel The Naked Face earned his Edgar Allan Poe Award nomination. His next novel The Other Side of Midnight went on to become best-seller.
