Biography: Sheila (birth name Annie Chancel) is a French pop singer born on August 16, 1945 in Créteil, France. She was popular in France in 60s and 70s and was the highest-selling artist there. In total she has sold more then 70 million copes of her records with 80 golden albums and singles. Her stage name comes from her first hit, a cover version of popular American song by Tommy Roe. She rose to fame in 1962 with a hit single "L'école est finie" (School is over). Her songs also appeared in French films like Eight Women and Une Robe d’ 'été, in the last film she sand the cover for Cher’s Bang Bang (My Baby Shot Me Down). In 1977 she changed her style for disco and performed under the name Sheila and B. Devotion. She began singing in English and got the success again with such hits like Spacer and Love Me Baby.
