German heavy metal and hard rock band Scorpions from Hanover, Germany, was formed in 1965. The band comprises Klaus Meine (lead vocals, rhythm guitar, percussion, tambourine, backing vocals), Matthias Jabs (lead & rhythm guitars), Rudolf Schenker (rhythm & lead guitars, backing vocals), Pawel Maciwoda (bass, backing vocals) and James Kottak (drums, percussion, backing vocals). Rudolf Schenker, the band's rhythm guitarist launched the band in 1965. At first, the band had beat influences and Schenker himself did the vocals. Things began to come together in 1969 when Schenker's younger brother Michael and vocalist Klaus Meine joined the band. In 1984, they released their most commercially-successful album, Love at First Sting, which peaked at number 6 on the Billboard 200 chart and went triple platinum.
