Ronald James Padavona, better known under his stage name Ronnie James Dio was an American heavy metal musician, born on July 10, 1942 in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, the United States and died on May 16, 2010 in Houston, Texas, the United States. He is known as one of the greatest metal vocalists and as a singer-songwriter. During his career, he sang with such bands like Black Sabbath (replaced Ozzy Osbourne), Elf, Rainbow, Heaven & Hell and his own band called Dio. He is one of the musicians who popularized “devil’s horns” sign in metal culture. He began his career in 1958 playing bass, but later he became the lead vocalist of that band and it was renamed in Ronnie & Red Caps.
