Kenyan country, folk, pop and easy listening singer, songwriter and musician Roger Whittaker was born on March 22, 1936 in Nairobi, Kenya. In the beginning, he along with his father performed in the local clubs and bars. In the late 1950s, he moved to London to develop his musical skills. There he attracted the attention of Portrush record label. In 1962, he released his first breakthrough hit single, "This And That". At the same year, he produced his following track, "Steel Men", which reached Top 30 in the UK. In the early 1970s, he released his debut album, New World in the Morning, which contained his first hits such as "Candy Cloud", "A Special Kind of Man", "No Blade of Grass" and "Moonshine". Later, he produced a collection of hit singles "Durham Town", "New World In The Morning", "Wind Beneath My Wings", "I Don't Believe In If Anymore", "River Lady", "I'm Back", "The First Hello", "Why" and "If I Were A Rich Man".
