Biography: English rock, blue-eyed soul and pop rock singer-songwriter Robert Palmer (19 January 1949 – 26 September 2003) was born in Batley, Yorkshire, England. He was best known for his music style which was a combination of soul, jazz, rock, pop and blues sounds. He achieved mainstream success in 1985 with his breakthrough album, Riptide, which yielded several hit singles such as "Riptide", "Hyperactive" and "Addicted to Love". The album's most successful single, "Addicted to Love", reached Top Ten on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and on the Billboard Top Rock Tracks chart.
