Biography: American hip hop DJ Rob Swift (birth name Robert Aguilar) was born on October 14, 1977, in Jackson Heights, Queens. He was raised in the musical family and being a child, he was heavily interested in various sound and styles of music. His older brother taught him how to scratch as well as his father instilled to him a love for classic music and especially for jazz. As a teenager, he was influenced by works of DMC and NMS. He began his professional career as a DJ during his studies at Baruch College. During that time, he performed in local clubs. In the late 1990s, he signed to Stones Throw Records and started recording his debut album, Soulful Fruit, which was released in 1997. Two years later, he released his breakthrough album, The Ablist, which produced several singles such as "Modern Day Music", "Two Turntables And A Keyboard", "Fusion Beats", "Alma's Message", "Turntablist Anthem" (feat.
