English rock, folk rock and electro folk singer, songwriter and musician Richard Thompson was born on 3 April 1949 in Notting Hill, West London. As a teenager, he founded his first band "Emil and the Detectives". During this time, he was heavily influenced by rock and roll music. When he was 18, he began playing with a new band Fairport Convention. He rose to fame as a solo artist in the early 1970s with his breakthrough debut album, Henry the Human Fly, which produced several singles such as "Wheely Down", "The New St. George", "Painted Ladies" and "Nobody’s Wedding". In 2007, Thompson released his latest solo album, Sweet Warrior, which received generally positive reviews from critics.
