Rebecca St. James, birth name Rebecca Jean Smallbone, is an Australian Christian pop and Christian rock singer and songwriter born on July 26, 1977 in Sydney, Australia. She began her music career when she was a teenager and her debut album was released in 1991. At that time, she was known as Rebecca Jean. Shortly after this release, she moved to the United States with her family. There, she signed a deal with a record label, took her current stage name and released the debut studio album Refresh My heart in 1994. Since that time, she has achieved considerable popularity among Christian audience and earned several Awards including Grammy Award for Best Rock Gospel Album (Pray).
