American indie, electronic rock, alternative rock, house, electronic and post-rock band Ratatat from New York City, Washington DC, was formed in 2001. The act comprises two members: Evan Mast and Mike Stroud. In the beginning, they performed under the stage name Cherry. During this time, they produced several tracks. In late 2003, they signed a contract with XL Recordings label. One year later, they released their self-titled debut album, which contained two singles, "Germany to Germany" and "Seventeen Years". It also was praised by critics. They continued the success with their following album, Classics, which spawned three biggest hit singles such as "Lex", "Wildcat" and "Loud Pipes".
