Biography: Painkiller, known also as Pain Killer is an American band coming from New York City, New York, the United States. The band was formed in 1991 and split in 1995. During that period, the band’s line-up was changing for quite many times but three primary members were John Zorn (saxophone), Bill Laswell (electric bass) and Mick Harris (drums (former member of Napalm Death)). The band’s sound can be classified as avant-garde jazz and grindcore, later it resembled ambient and dub. During their career, the band has released eight albums including two live albums and two compilation albums. In 1995, Harris left the band in order to devote himself totally to computer music. Other band members reformed several times for just one-off shows and invited Hamid Drake or Yoshida Tatsuya for playing drums.
