Nico, birth name Christa Päffgen was a German singer-songwriter, fashion model, actress and Warhol superstar. She was born on October 16, 1938 in Cologne, Germany and died on July 18, 1988 in Ibiza, Spain. She is known mostly as a singer-songwriter in art rock, folk and protopunk genres but at the same time she was an actress being filmed in the acclaimed work by Federico Fellini “La Dolce Vita” (1960). She was a close friend of Andy Warhol and she collaborated with him in many experimental art films including Chelsea Girls (1966). She named her debut solo albums after that film. She was deaf on one ear but despite this fact she was very talented musically. She was also a vegetarian, heroin addict for about 15 years and self-proclaimed nihilist.
