Biography: Nelly Kim Furtado (known as Nelly Furtado) was born on December 2, 1978 in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. She’s a Portuguese-Canadian singer-songwriter, record producer and occasional actress. She got her name after the famous Soviet woman-gymnast Nelly Kim. Nelly Furtado rose to fame in 2000 releasing her debut album Whoa, Nelly! The hit single I’m Like a Bird brought Furtado a Grammy Award. After that she released less popular Folklore album (2003) and came back in prominence in 2006 releasing her next album Loose. It spawned such hit singles as Promiscuous, Maneater, All Good Things (Come to an End), and Say It Right.
