British pop, blue-eyed soul and R&B singer and songwriter Natasha Bedingfield was born on 26 November 1981, in London, England, UK. She attended a year at the University of Greenwich, where she studied psychology, then left to concentrate on singing and songwriting. At first she recorded demos in the garages of friends who had recording studios, which she presented to record companies. Throughout the 1990s and early 2000s, she composed and recorded songs for the Hillsong London Church. She rose to fame with her breakthrough album, Unwritten (2004), spawned the singles, "Single", "These Words", "Unwritten", "I Bruise Easily" and "The One That Got Away". The album debuted on the UK Albums Chart at number one and reached the top thirty in the United States. The album's single, "Unwritten", was nominated for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance at the 49th Grammy Awards in 2007.
