Mötley Crüe is an American hard rock band which was formed in Los Angeles, California, the United States in 1981. The band was founded by bass guitarist Nicky Sixx (at that time he was in a band called London) and drummer Tommy Lee. The duo was joined by lead guitarist Mick Mars and by vocalist Vince Neil. The band is considered to be one of the most popular hard rock band’s having sold more than 80 million copies worldwide and about 24 million copies in the U.S. The band is a very controversial one as all its members had problems with law, drugs and alcohol. All of them are heavily tattooed and spent some time in jail. Their lyrics is mostly about whiskey, motorcycles, strip clubs, and sex. Their style can be characterized as a mixture of heavy metal and glam rock which produced several best-selling albums like Girls, girls, girls, Shout at the Devil, Theatre of Pain.
