Morbid Angel is an American death metal band formed in Tampa, Florida in 1983. The band is considered one of the originaters of the genre who played a crucial role in its development. The current line-up composes of Trey Azagthoth - guitar, guitar synthesizer, keyboards, backing vocals, Pete Sandoval - drums, percussion, David Vincent - bass guitar, vocals and Destructhor – guitar. Their lyrics was based on occultism and Satanism at first but later they moved to Sumerian Gods and mythology. The band is known to release their albums in alphabetical order. The debut album Altars of Madness was released in 1989. The album was sold very well and gained the first popularity for the band.
