Michael Leonard Brecker known as Michael Brecker was born on March 29, 1949 in Cheltenham, Pennsylvania, the United States and died on January 13, 2007 in New York, New York. He was an American jazz saxophonist and one of the most influential saxophonists since John Coltrane. During his career he released 10 solo albums and appeared on numerous albums and tracks. He recorded with Brecker Brothers and as session musician with various artists like Aerosmith, John Lennon, Yoko Ono, James Taylor, Frank Zappa, Frank Sinatra, Eric Clapton, Bruce Springsteen and many, many others. He has been awarded 15 Grammy Awards and four of them were awarded posthumously. His last album Pilgrimage was released in May 2007 after his death and won Grammy Awards in categories Best Jazz Instrumental Solo and Best Jazz Instrumental Album, Individual or Group.
