American alternative rock, dream pop, folk and indie rock band Mazzy Star from Santa Monica, was formed in 1989. The band comprises Hope Sandoval (vocals), David Roback (guitar), Jill Emery (bass), Keith Mitchell (drums), Suki Ewers (keyboard) and William Cooper (keyboards, violin). Originally, the band was founded under the name Opal and included guitarist David Roback and bassist Kendra Smith. The group achieved mainstream success in the early 1990s with their breakthrough album, So Tonight That I Might See, which produced their biggest hit, "Fade into You".
