American Hasidic Jewish reggae musician Matisyahu (birth name Matthew Paul Miller) was born on June 30, 1979, in West Chester, Pennsylvania, USA. He is known for blending traditional Jewish themes with Reggae, rock and hip hop sounds. He gained popularity with the single, "King Without a Crown", which reached number 28 on the Billboard Hot 100 and number 7 on the Modern Rock Tracks chart. In 2004, he after having signed with JDub Records, a not-for-profit record label that promotes Jewish musicians, released his first album, Shake Off the Dust...Arise. In 2006, he released his follow-up album, Youth, which spent two weeks at number four in the Billboard top 200 albums in the US. Light is the confirmed title for an upcoming third album by Matisyahu, which will be released in summer 2009.
