American R&B singer, songwriter, record producer and actress Mariah Carey was born on March 27, 1970 in Huntington, Long Island, New York, the United States. She has become the best selling artist of 1990s in the U.S. and third best selling female artist in the American music history. In total, she has sold more than 175 million of her records and videos worldwide. Her debut self-titled album Mariah Carey was released in 1990 and quickly earned her popularity and fame. The album smashed stores having become 9 x platinum in the US and 7 x Platinum in the Canada. All her albums have become at least Platinum and the best selling one is Music Box of 1993 with total sales of 32 million copies worldwide.
