M83 is an electronic/rock band led by Anthony Gonzalez, French musician. The band was founded in 2001 in Antibes, France by Gonzalez and by ex-member Nicolas Fromageau. The band received its name after the spiral galaxy Messier 83. Currently, Gonzalaez is accompanied by some other musicians including Yann Gonzalez (composer), Morgan Kibby, Loïc Maurin and Pierre-Marie Maulini. The band’s style can be classified as synthrock, ambient and shoegaze. During their career, the band has released five studio albums and several singles and remixes. They remixed such songs like Placebo’s "Protège Moi", Goldfrapp’s "Black Cherry", Bloc Party’s – "The Pioneers". The band supported Kings of Leon on their UK tour, supported The Killers on during their US tour and toured with Depeche Mode in Italy, Germany and France. Their last album is Saturdays = Youth.
