Biography: Living Colour is an African-American hard rock band formed in New York City, New York, the United States in 1983. The current band members are Corey Glover, Vernon Reid, Doug Wimbish and Will Calhoun. The band’s sound can be described as fusion of heavy metal, funk, hard rock, hardcore punk and hip-hop, some people label the band “funk metal”. Topics for the lyrics are very different ranging from something personal to politics, criticizing Eurocentrism and racism in America. The band singed a deal with Epic Records and released their debut studio album Vivid in 1988. That was a real breakthrough to the mainstream success. The album spawned a hit single number one “Cult of Personality” which charted very well not only in the US but also in the UK. This song earned the band their first Grammy Award.
