Biography: Kristin Hersh, birth name Martha Kristin Hersh is an American singer-songwriter and musician born on August 7, 1966 in Atlanta, Georgia, the United States. During her music career, she has been a lead singer and the main songwriter for he band Throwing Muses. At the same time, she began a solo career and right now, she is a frontwoman of the rock trio called 50 Foot Wave. She was influenced by such groups like R.E.M., Dead Kennedys, Velvet Underground, Patti Smith, Stevie Wonder, The Clash, The Beatles, Robert Johnson and by many others. She has released seven studio albums. The first one Hips and Makers was released in 1994 and the last one Learn to Sing Like a Star came out in 2007.
