Ketevan Melua, known as Katie Melua is a Georgian/British singer, songwriter and musician, born on Septermber 14, 1984 in Kutaisi, Georgian SSR, Soviet Union. Just before the beginning of the Georgian Civil War in 1993 her family moved to Belfast, Northern Ireland and later moved to England. She speaks Georgian, Russian and English. She began writing her first songs when she attended the school. The debut album Call of the Search was released in 2003. The album reached the top on the UK Albums chart, on the Irish albums chart and on US Jazz. It was certified 6 x Platinum in the UK, 2 x Platinum in Germany and platinum in the Netherlands with total sales of about 3,5 million copies.
