Her music style is often considered as eclectic, utilizing various styles of art rock and experimental music. She quickly gained popularity in 1978 with her breakthrough debut album, The Kick Inside, which reached number 3 on the UK album charts and later was certified Platinum in the UK. This album produced several singles such as "The Man with the Child in His Eyes", "Wuthering Heights", "Moving", "Strange Phenomena" and "Them Heavy People".
