John Towner Williams is an American composer, conductor and pianist born on February 8, 1932 in Queens, New York City, the United States. He’s known as one of the major soundtrack composers in Hollywood having composed music themes for such films as Star Wars, Superman, Home Alone, first three Harry Potter movies, E.T., Jurassic Park, Indiana Jones series, Jaws and many other films. During his outstanding career he won 21 Grammy Awards, four Golden Globe Awards and five Academy Awards. It’s notable that he won Oscar, Golden Globe and BAFTA for his Star Wars music theme. Schindler’s List earned him one more Oscar and Grammy Award, the soundtrack to E.T. Extra-Terrestrial won also Oscar, golden Globe and BAFTA. Williams holds a record for number of Oscar nominations, having 45 ones. He has been inducted into the American Classical music Hall of Fame and the Hollywood Bowl Hall of Fame.
