Jimi Hendrix (born Johnny Allen Hendrix; November 27, 1942 – September 18, 1970) was American hard rock and blues-rock singer-songwriter and guitarist. He was one of the musicians who popularized the wah-wah pedal in mainstream rock which he often used to deliver an exaggerated pitch in his solos, particularly with high bends and use of legato based around the pentatonic scale. He was influenced by blues artists such as B.B. King, Muddy Waters, Howlin' Wolf, Albert King, and Elmore James rhythm and blues and soul guitarists Curtis Mayfield, Steve Cropper, as well as by some modern jazz. He was also known as a member of rock bands The Jimi Hendrix Experience and Gypsy Sun and Rainbows. In 1967, The Jimi Hendrix Experience released their debut and most successful album, Are You Experienced, which you may download in mp3 from our site. It produced the hit singles, "Hey Joe" and "Purple Haze". In 2003, Rolling Stone magazine ranked the album #15 on Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.
