Janis Lyn Joplin, known as Janis Joplin was an American rock singer, songwriter and music arranger. She was born on January 19, 1943 in Port Arthur,Texas, United States and died on October 4, 1970 in Los Angeles, California. She was working in such genres as psychedelic rock and blues rock being the member of Big Brother and the Holding Company band and later of her two bands Kozmic Blues Band and Full Tilt Boogie Band. Joplin is considered to be the best white blues singer and one of the best female vocalists in the rock music history. Rolling Stone put her at # 46 in its list of 100 Greatest Artists of All Time and at # 28 in the list of 100 Greatest Singers of All Time.
