James Dewitt Yancey, better known under his stage name J Dilla or Jay Dee was an American rapper and producer born on February 4, 1974 and died on February 10, 2006. He emerged on the American underground hip-hop scene in Detroit, Michigan in the middle of 1990s. His career was developing quite slow that it strange as he produced such famous rappers like Busta Rhymes, A Tribe Called Quest, The Pharcyde. He was also a member of a hip-hop group Slum Village. At the beginning of 2000s, his career was boosted as he released his debut album Welcome 2 Detroit. At the same time, he released a collaborative album with Madlib – Champion Sound which raised the interest to his personality. His popularity was growing up but he died from the blood disease.
