Biography: Himsa was an American metalcore and melodic death metal band from Seattle, Washington, the United States. The band was founded in 1998 and disbanded in 2008. The former members of the band are John Pettibone, Kirby Johnson, Sammi Curr, Derek Harn, Joe Frothingham, Christian Schmitt and many others as the band’s line-up was not stable. The band’s name was taken from Sanskrit language from the word “ahimsa” that means "to abstain from causing harm". If you remove “a”, the meaning will be opposite. “Himsa” means “violence” in many Indian languages including Sanskrit, Hindi, Tamil, Gujarati and others. During their career, the band has released four studio albums. The debut Ground Breaking Ceremony came out in 1999 and the last one Summon in Thunder was released in 2007.
