Finnish alternative rock band HIM from Helsinki, Finland, was formed in 1991. The band comprises Ville Valo, Mikko Lindström ("Linde"), Mikko Paananen ("Mige"), Janne Puurtinen ("Burton") and Mika Karppinen ("Gas"). The band was originally called "His Infernal Majesty", but later changed their name. The band's musical style is often referred to as "love metal" by Valo and by the group's fans. The band achieved mainstream success in 1999 with their second album, Razorblade Romance, which produced four singles, "Poison Girl", "Join Me in Death", "Right Here in My Arms" and "Gone With the Sin". The lead single, "Join Me in Death", reached number one on the German music charts, and became the band's best-known song in Europe.
