Joseph Saddler, better known under his stage name Grandmaster Flash was born on January 1, 1958 in Bridgetown, Barbados, the United States. He is an American hip-hop musician and DJ. He and his group Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five were forerunners of the hip-hop genre. There’s a legend that the word “hip-hop” was invented by someone from this group. Grandmaster Flash created freestyle rapping showed the great possibilities of mixing releasing his single «The Adventures of Grandmaster Flash on the Wheels of Steel» (1981). According to the Rolling Stone the single “The Message” that was released in 1982 is the most influential in the history of hip-hop. The group split but Grandmaster Flash continued working and received three Grammys for collaboration work with other musicians.
