Gordian Knot is an American progressive rock and metal band formed in 1998. The current band’s line-up composes of Sean Malone (bass, fretless bass, upright bass, Chapman Sticks (various models and tunings), Warr Guitars, guitars, pizzicato strings, keyboards, e-bow, echoplex, loops, occasional vocals).All other members join him only for live shows. They are Vickram Badalpur - vocals, keyboards, John Webber – guitars, Thomas O' Meara - warr guitar, Stephan Greenbank – drums. In different times the line-up included members from Genesis, Yes, King Crimson and other bands. Gordian Knot’s style can be characterized as fusion of progressive rock and metal but it also incorporates other elements like art rock, alternative rock and jazz fusion. The band has released two studio albums. The debut one Gordian Knot was released in 1999 and the second Emergent came out in 2003.
