Gloria María Fajardo García, known better as Gloria Estefan, is a Cuban-American singer-songwriter born on September 1, 1957 in Havana, Cuba. Her parents moved to the U.S. during the Cuban revolution. She performs Latin music and can be called the Queen of Latin pop music as she has received five Grammy Awards. She began her music career in 1975 when she and her husband Emilio Estefan formed a Latin band called Miami Sound Machine where she became a vocalist. At first the band was singing in Spanish but later they switched to English. She began giving solo concerts in 1984 and toured in the U.S. and in Latin America.
