G-Unit is an American hip-hop band which was formed in New York City, being active since 2002. The band composes of 50 Cent, Lloyd Banks and of Tony Yayo. They grew up in the same block and since early years know each other, rapping together and selling together drugs.G-Unit stands for Gangsta Unit and for Guerilla Unit as well. The band worked hard in order to get any prominence in the rap industry. They released several mixtapes independently, the most popular ones were 50 Cent Is the Future, God’s Plan, No Mercy, No Fear and Automatic Gunfire. The debut album Beg for Mercy was released in 2003 but Tony Yayo appeared only on two tracks as he was sentenced to jail due to the gun possession. The next and the last album to date T.O.S.
