Biography: The Fugees was a hip hop group formed in West Orange, New Jersey, the U.S. in 1993. The band consisted of rapper/singer/producer Wyclef Jean, rapper/singer/producer Lauryn Hill, and rapper Pras Michel. The band’s music incorporated also elements of soul and reggae. The name of the band comes from the tern “refugee”. During their career they recorded two albums and disbanded in 2007. Their most successful album and one of the massive hits of the 90s was The Score released in 1996. The album reached top spots of different charts – Billboard 200 and Top R&B and Hip Hop albums. The album was certified 6 x Platinum with total sales of more than 18 million copies. The album spawned two hit singles number one “Killing Me Softly” and “Ready or Not” which reached number one in the UK and “Killing Me Softly” was a hit in the U.S. topping R&B chart.
