Franz Ferdinand is a Scottish rock band from Glasgow, Scotland, formed in 2002. The band consists of Alex Kapranos (lead vocals, guitar), Nicholas McCarthy (rhythm guitar, keyboards and backing vocals), Robert Hardy (bass guitar) and of Paul Thomson (drums, percussion and backing vocals). Franz Ferdinand quickly gained the popularity with their debut self-titled album which was released in 2004. The album debuted at number 3 in the UK and made a breakthrough to the American market where it went Platinum while in the UK the album was certified 4 x Platinum.
