American record producer, rapper, record executive, and actor Dr. Dre (birth name Andre Romelle Young) was born on February 18, 1965, in Los Angeles, California, United States. He began his career in music as a member of the World Class Wreckin' Cru and he later found fame with the influential gangsta rap group N.W.A with Eazy-E and Ice Cube which popularized the use of explicit lyrics in rap to detail the violence of street life. He quickly gained popularity in 1992 with his breakthrough debut album, The Chronic, which peaked at number three on the Billboard 200. This album has been widely regarded as one of the most important and influential albums of the 1990s and regarded by many fans and peers to be the most well-produced hip hop album of all time.
